Top 5 Heisman Candidates

The Heisman trophy presentation is approaching us and it has been a tight race so far. From what experts predicted in the beginning of the year, to now, has been a crazy change. Only 1 of the predicted top 5 remains in my top 5. Many people have different opinions about who should win and who will follow. Here’s my top 5.

1.Jameis Winston QB FSU Freshman
Winston led FSU to its first unbeaten season since 1999, when they won the national championship. This past week, Winston got off to a slow start, throwing an interception on the first drive. But he soon corrected his mistake and threw 3 touchdowns, all to Kelvin Benjamin, and 327 yards.

2. AJ McCarron QB ALA Senior
Alabama suffered a devastating loss this weekend. McCarron still performed great, throwing three touchdowns, one 99 yard bomb to Amari Cooper. McCarron gets a lot of help from his teammates and is one of the most well-decorated quarterbacks in college football. Although his title hopes might be cut short this year, he is still a candidate for the Heisman.

3. Andre Williams RB BC Senior
Just as Williams’ candidacy heated up, it may have ended due to an apparent injury. Williams had a touchdown this weekend, but shortly after went into the locker room after a hard hit. He finished with just 9 carries for 29 yards as BC was upset by Syracuse.

4. Johnny Manziel QB TA&M Sophomore
Manziel didn’t have the game of his life this past weekend. Although he completed 24 of 35 passes, he only had 195 yards in the air. Combine that with 21 rushing yards, and a loss, Johnny Football’s stock is falling.

5. Jordan Lynch QB NIU Senior
Jordan Lynch helped Northern Illinois to its first unbeaten regular season in 50 years. This past weekend his broke his own single-game record for most rushing yards for an FCS quarterback with 321 yards against Western Michigan. He rushed for 3 touchdowns and threw and 10 yard TD for a big win for the huskies. Although he might not have the best roster, he definitely has a great talent.

Honorable Mention: Ka’Deem Carey, Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Aaron Donald, Tajh Boyd, Braxton Miller, Myles Jack, Aaron Murray
