Starting pitcher Jake Peavy pitched for the first time in a Red Sox uniform after being traded from Chicago to Boston. His results from Saturday’s start were what he wanted them to be. Peavy started off a little shaky, walking two batters in a row. But, he was on a roll for most of the game, striking out seven batters in 7+ innings of work.
Peavy allowed only four hits and two earned runs in his debut with the Sox, and recorded a win, bringing his record to 9-4. There were a few times when he did not get a call he wanted, or he overthrew the ball, causing him to walk around the pitching mound talking to himself.
He seemed very confident with himself, and he was pitching like an ace. The Red Sox fans themselves have not really had a chance to see Jake Peavy in action, as his first time pitching against the Sox was last year. The 32 year old replaced rookie Brandon Workman in the rotation, and it will be interesting to see how John Farrell plays out the pitching rotation when Clay Bucholz returns.
