We’re headed down to the warm south today. That’s right, we’re going to Tampa Bay. Tropicana Field is now the only full time dome stadium. Houston, Miami, and Toronto all have retractable roofs. Tropicana Field isn’t exactly unique, nor is it the cleanest park either. In fact, in 2009 ESPN named it the dirtiest ballpark in America after several health violations were found.
However, there are some perks to, “The Trop.” The park offers fans a nice air conditioned place to watch baseball. Come playoff time, the air is filled with the sound of cowbells and the sound of Rays fans. There isn’t really a bad seat in the house. No matter where you are sitting, you still have a good view of the action for the most part.
Fans can also touch live cow nose sting rays out in center field. The playing surface is AstroTurf, and is a hitter’s park for the most part. The press box is also fairly nice and provides media members a good view of the action. So like I said, there aren’t too many perks to the park. This isn’t a park I would personally recommend going to. If you do want to go, I would recommend finding some time to go to the beach. Tampa isn’t the most exciting town.
Tomorrow we head north of the border to the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays.
